Monkey's Paw

“Monkey’s Paw” is a 20x16” canvas, framed in black. I love how the simple frame tightens to  present a fantastical abstract landscape, where the silhouette of a dark arm evokes the imagery of a mountain range. The vibrant backdrop, rich with hues of pinks, yellows, and grays creates an energetic yet balanced composition.
 
Crafted with acrylic paint, this piece incorporates a single gelli monoprint (the monkey’s black arm and “paw”), adding a unique texture and layer that enhances the composition’s visual richness. The undulating marks and rhythmic lines flow in both horizontal and vertical directions, evoking a sense of movement and depth that draw the eye around the canvas. 
 
I have to tell you: when I painted this one, I wasn’t sure about the colors but, now that I’m finished, they’re my favorite things about it. In person, the way the pink and the yellow play off each other? With the neutrals to calm them down? This is a piece that can go into a space and have something to say without taking over the space (after all, it’s 20x16”). 
 
Wherever you display it, “Monkey’s Paw” will serve as a captivating focal point, sparking conversation and inspiration– a little “lift” or “sumpin sumpin” that adds that shot of energy!
