One Bold Move

This 3x3 foot piece was crafted by hand, showcasing bold colors and mixed media elements to create a strong visual impact with high texture detail. 
 
I laid out hand-painted paper circles on this large canvas, added a ladder for geometric contrast (and because ladders always lead to me thinking about how there are other places and spaces beyond what we see in front of us) and then… I needed One Bold Move to add “life” to the piece.

Against a carefully designed landscape, I wanted organic line movement. Using a black oil pastel, there would be no do-over. Some deep breathing was involved. And I think that’s how things are in our daily lives sometimes– we need that next BOLD action step to see how the rest unfolds.

That’s what I see when I look at this piece-- what draws my eye-- that bold curvy line with zigzags and swoops, meandering about in a large space, being whatever it wants to be. Fitting in by not trying to fit in.
